Island Quest Day Camp:
Skate Park & Skateboarding Program
'(updated March 19th 2026)
A proposal designed for beginner-to-Intermediate Plug-In programs
DESIGN + STRATEGY
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
Program Objective & Scope
The objective of this project is to design, build, equip, and support a dedicated skateboarding (and scooter-ready) program at Island Quest Day Camp, centered around a custom skate park installed on half of a basketball court.
The program is designed to:
  • Welcome complete beginners with zero intimidation
  • Provide clear progression for returning and intermediate campers
  • Be safe, visible, and easy to supervise
  • Be realistic to operate within a summer camp structure
  • Deliver long-term value, not a one-season installation
This is a plug-in solution that combines:
  • Skate park design
  • Equipment packages
  • Staff Onboarding guidance
  • Program curriculum review (Optional)
  • Ongoing support
Island Quest retains control of staffing and payroll; we provide structure, tools, and expertise.
Project Structure
The project is structured around four core pillars:
a) Skate Park Design
b) Products & Equipment
c) Program + Staffing Support & Training (Optional)
d) Investment
Each pillar is detailed below.
Principles of Park Design & Configuration
Custom Beginner Flow Park with Wood custom elements
This configuration balances:
Beginner accessibility
Progression potential
Durability
Long-term adaptability

Our skatepark uses premium modular ramps from professional skatepark manufacturers, not plastic toy ramps. Designed by skaters, these features provide the look, feel, and progression of a real skatepark, allowing beginners to build confidence while giving experienced riders plenty of room to progress — all in a safe camp environment.
a) Skate Park Design
Design Constraints
  • Limited space (½ basketball court)
  • Audience: beginner → intermediate
  • Not designed for advanced riders
  • Must be easy to assemble, dismantle, store, and reset
  • Summer friendly module (e.g. avoid the use of overheating metal ramps)
Design Principles
  • Progression before performance
  • Flow over isolated obstacles
  • Low intimidation, high engagement
  • Multiple zones instead of one dominant feature
  • Clear visual boundaries for safety
  • Modular elements that can be reconfigured

Pre-designed metal parks options are intentionally not the primary solution, as they skew toward intermediate–advanced riders and drop-in use and may become a safety issue for overheating during summer months.
Flexible Modular Skatepark Layout
The park is divided into a modular skatepark option with each configuration accommodating different levels and improving flow.
The core park configuration includes:
  • Central pyramid / funbox (wedges and tabletop) as the main progression feature
  • Quarter pipes positioned in the corners to generate speed and teach basic ramp skills
  • Street obstacles placed between the quarters and the central pyramid, including:
  • rail
  • ledge / grind box
  • kicker
  • speed bump / pump feature
This layout creates a natural flow around the park, allowing riders to link obstacles while maintaining clear riding lines.
Flexible and Fun - Intro Street Skills
Because our modular park design can be quickly reconfigured into a beginner/street split, a mini-ramp simulation, or a pro-demo gap setup, it supports safe skill progression from first-time fundamentals to advanced tricks and showcase features.
  • Low rail and ledge (movable)
  • Can be cleared for flat-ground work for beginners
Modularity & Storage
  • Obstacles can be moved to refresh layouts
  • Wood ramps can be resurfaced after several seasons
  • Winter storage strongly recommended
  • Consider tarps for summer rain protection
Ramp & Supplier Considerations
Recommended
All ramps selected in this offer comes with:
  • Durable and weather resistant (rain, heat etc.)
  • Skatelite finish (longer lifespan, better look) where applicable
  • Castor Wheels for easy moving and storage on most elements

Note: Our configurations are carefully selected from various providers and material options. We prioritize a balanced approach, considering cost-effectiveness, longevity, ease of installation, and efficient storage. Assembly and installation are designed to be straightforward, requiring only basic tools.
